The same receipt printed in French, in Japanese and in Arabic: the words change script, the amount keeps its reading direction RECEIPT 0412 Fragrant rice 25 kg 34,00 Oil 5 L 12,40 Total 46,40 $ English — label on the left RECEIPT 0412 香り米 25 kg 34,00 食用油 5 L 12,40 合計 46,40 $ Japanese — another script, same frame RECEIPT 0412 أرز معطر ٢٥ كغ 34,00 زيت ٥ لتر 12,40 المجموع 46,40 $ Arabic — label on the right, amount unchanged

What "complete" means here

As long as one sentence is not translated, the language does not ship. You will not come across a button left in English after six months of use.

✓The payment button, the column names, the label of each of the five means of payment.
✓The error messages, including the one you see once a year.
✓The receipt, the quote, the invoice for five hours of labour, the credit note, the overdue reminder.
✓The emails COMZA sends, and the column headings in the exported spreadsheet.
✓The settings screens, which only the owner opens twice a year.

เก็บเงิน28,40 $
ክፍያ ተቀበል28,40 $

On the last line, the text has moved to the right. The $28.40 still reads left to right.

Right to left

The screen flips, the figures stay put

You pick Arabic and the page flips: the menu goes right, the basket comes left. Amounts, barcodes and invoice numbers go on reading left to right.

The same register page in French then in Arabic: the layout flips from left to right, but the total keeps its reading direction REGISTER · EN 34,00 12,40 Total 1 250,00 $ Menu on the left, amount on the right RTL REGISTER · AR 34,00 12,40 المجموع 1 250,00 $ Menu on the right, amount on the left $1,250.00 reads the same way round on both sides

The whole page swings over

The menu goes right, the basket moves left, the arrows change direction. We did not take the French screen and stick Arabic words on it.

The figures do not move

1 250,00 $ is written the same in Arabic and in Dutch. Plenty of software flips the figures too, and a cashier reading a total backwards gives the wrong change.

The paper follows

The printed receipt and the PDF invoice also come out right to left, with the columns in the right order.

Invoice line — French
Fragrant rice, 25 kg bag2
Unit price34,00 $

The label on the left, the figure on the right.

سطر فاتورة — العربية
أرز معطر، كيس ٢٥ كغ2
سعر الوحدة34,00 $
المجموع68,00 $

The label has moved right and the figure left. The 68,00 $, though, are written the same way round as before.

One setting per person

Each works in their own language, in the same shop

Each one sets their own language without touching anyone else's. Four employees, four different screens, and one single register behind.

Four employees of the same shop each work in their own language, and all their entries fall into one single database Français Cashier · counter Cash in 28,40 한국어 Seller · shop floor 결제하기 28,40 ไทย Manager · margins เก็บเงิน 28,40 العربية Accountant · exports تحصيل 28,40 One single database Same numbering, same amounts The language changes the screen, never the record.
1

The cashier

He picks his language at first sign-in, in ten seconds. It follows him from the counter tablet to his own phone.

His language
2

The customer

His record carries his language. His quote, his invoice and his overdue reminder go out in it.

3

The manager

The day's report and the margins in his language, with every seller's figures. He approves a $15.00 discount from his phone.

4

The accountant

He exports with the column headings in his language. The file stays readable by his accounting software.

What never changes

A sale typed in Thai and a session invoiced in German fall into the same report, with the same numbering and the same amount. Only the words on screen differ.

Your figures are written the way you write them

An amount written wrong ends up counted wrong. Six settings at sign-up, and the screens, the receipts and the files line up on them.

One single stored value, written three different ways depending on the separator, the decimals and the label the organization picks Stored value 1250.00 1 250,00 $ space · 2 decimals · $ 1.250,000 FDJ point · 3 decimals · FDJ 1,250 ¥ comma · 0 decimals · ¥ In the exports USD · 1250.00 The setting changes the writing on screen and on the receipt. The international code stays in the files and in bank exchanges.
Example setting
Organization currencyUSD
Label shown$
Decimals2
Thousands separatorspace
Date formatDD/MM/YYYY
Result on screen1 250,00 $
✓The organization currency. Picked once, it is the reference for your prices, your totals and your reports.
✓The number of decimals follows the currency. Two, three or none. COMZA rounds once, then shows the same thing everywhere.
✓The label shown can differ from the international code. Write $ on the receipt and keep USD in the exports and in bank exchanges.
✓The thousands separator. Space, comma or point, whichever is used where you are.
✓The date format. Day, month, year in the order you write them. Issue and due dates follow.
✓The time zone. It sets the time on the receipt and the end of the register day: a sale at 23:40 falls on the right day.

These six settings apply to the whole organization. An employee cannot change how amounts are written for himself alone, and that is deliberate: two cashiers reading two formats end up $1,000 out.

Offline

The network drops, the sale goes on

Six customers in the queue and the connection drops. The offline register keeps the sales on the device, then sends them when the network comes back seventeen minutes later. Nobody in the queue notices.

The network drops, seven sales pile up on the device, then the network comes back and the seven sales go up at once with no duplicate NETWORK OK 10:02 10:14 — the connection stops SALE 0419 7 WAITING The cashier cashes in and prints. Everything stays on the device. 10:31 — the network comes back NETWORK OK 7 sent · 0 duplicate They go up in order, each with its own mark.

Everything is kept on the device

The sale, the repair, the subscription renewed: the lines, the means of payment, the discount, the exact time. The receipt comes out of the printer and the customer leaves.

The sending goes in order

The seven sales go up one by one, in the order they were made. Each carries its own mark, so a send cut off halfway and picked up again creates no duplicate.

The cashier sees only a badge

An amber badge at the top of the screen, with the number of sales waiting. He has nothing to touch. During the outage, though, he can neither invite an employee nor look at the other shop's sales.
